Local security challenges
Santa Clara County is the heart of Silicon Valley — San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto and Milpitas — home to tech campuses, R&D labs, data centers, hospitals and a growing number of apartment communities. Our Mountain View office sits in the middle of it.
Tech campuses, labs and data centers need access control, visitor management and documented patrols.
Parking lots at offices, retail centers and trailheads are frequent targets for break-ins.
Active construction across the valley loses copper, tools and materials overnight.

California requirements
Every security officer working in Santa Clara County must hold a BSIS Guard Card and work for a licensed private patrol operator. The Guard Card requires a DOJ and FBI background check, 8 hours of Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force training before registration, 32 more hours within six months, and 8 hours of continuing training every year. Armed officers also need a BSIS Firearm Permit.
Most California employers must also maintain a written Workplace Violence Prevention Plan under SB 553 (Labor Code 6401.9). Security procedures are often part of that plan. Verify any company or officer on the state’s DCA License Search.
