Quick answer
What security do cemeteries need?
Cemeteries face bronze plaque and vase theft, vandalism and desecration and after-dark trespass across large grounds. California law makes damaging tombs, markers or cemetery buildings, or disrupting a funeral, a crime (Penal Code §594.35), and makes disturbing human remains without authority a felony (Health & Safety Code §7052). Respectful patrols, after-dark checks and monitored cameras protect families’ memorials.

California requirements
California laws protecting cemeteries
Penal Code §594.35 makes it a crime to maliciously damage or remove tombs, markers, fences or cemetery buildings, obliterate graves, or disrupt a funeral or interment. Health & Safety Code §7052 makes willfully mutilating, disinterring or removing human remains without authority a felony.
Every officer must hold a BSIS Guard Card and work for a licensed private patrol operator — 8 hours of Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force training before registration, 32 more hours within six months, and 8 hours of continuing training every year. Verify any company or officer on the state’s DCA License Search.
