We assign officers to consistent sites whenever possible so you learn the property, the people and the routine instead of bouncing between random posts. Full-time, part-time, day, swing and overnight shifts are available across our service areas.
Pay is competitive for the market and the assignment, with higher rates for armed, patrol driver, supervisor and specialized posts. Access control, patrols, visitor management and reporting at office buildings, retail centers, apartment communities, hospitals, schools and warehouses. Requires a current BSIS Guard Card (we can guide new applicants through the process).
Higher-risk posts at banks, dispensaries, high-value logistics and executive protection details. Requires a BSIS Guard Card and a current BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit; prior armed, military or law enforcement experience is preferred.
Drive a company-marked patrol vehicle on randomized routes, respond to alarms and complete GPS-verified checkpoints. Requires a Guard Card, a valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.

California regulates security officers through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). The requirements below reflect state law and Safeguard On Demand’s own hiring standards. If you do not yet have a Guard Card, apply anyway: we explain the steps and can point you to approved training providers.

Take the BSIS-required Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force course from a licensed training facility. This is the only training required before you can apply for your card.
Submit fingerprints through a Live Scan provider for the California DOJ and FBI criminal history check required for registration.
Submit your Guard Card application and fee to the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services online. Once approved, your registration is valid for two years.
Complete 16 hours of additional BSIS training within your first 30 days on the job and 16 more within six months, then 8 hours of continuing education each year to renew.
Our application process is simple and fast. Most qualified applicants hear from a recruiter within a few business days, and officers who already hold a Guard Card can often be scheduled for orientation within the same week.

No. You can apply before you have your BSIS Security Guard Registration, and many of our officers started that way. You must hold a valid Guard Card before your first shift, so we recommend beginning the 8-hour Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force course and Live Scan fingerprinting right away. Our recruiters can recommend BSIS-approved training providers near you.
Applicants who already hold a current Guard Card and pass screening are often interviewed within a few business days and scheduled for orientation the same week, depending on open posts in their area. New applicants should allow time for BSIS to process their registration, which can take several weeks after Live Scan.

Yes. Event security, weekend patrols, overnight standing posts and fire watch assignments are well suited to part-time schedules. Let us know your availability in your application and we will look for posts that fit it.
Armed applicants must hold both a BSIS Guard Card and a current BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit, which requires the 14-hour firearms training course, a passing firearms assessment and range requalification twice a year. Prior armed, military or law enforcement experience is strongly preferred, and armed posts pay a premium over unarmed assignments.
A valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for marked vehicle patrol officers, field supervisors and some site assignments. It is not required for most standing, concierge or event posts, but reliable transportation to and from your assigned site is.
Yes. Every new officer completes company orientation and site-specific post-order training, and we support the 32 hours of BSIS training required in your first six months plus 8 hours of annual continuing education. Additional training in de-escalation, report writing, first aid/CPR/AED, fire watch and patrol procedures is provided as your assignments require.
Yes.
